Welcome once again to the phantom power trip. It has been a while since my last post but I have been a busy beaver. Has anyone seen the movie District 9? The only thing I know about the movie is that there are freaky aliens in it. Well anyways I had an assignment to compose a movie poster for a sequel to a movie. The only reason I chose this movie is because there were so many high resolution images from the movie on the interweb for me to use. Let me know what you think of it.

In other news, I have started an internship at 1.055 triple m. I know you are probably wondering why a video student is taking an internship at a radio station. For the past two years triple m has held an American Idol type contest for local musicians. It is called Project M. Me and three of my classmates have been hired to shoot it all so someone else can edit it and post it on the web. Last night was the first night of performances and they all sounded really good. There was one guy in particular who impressed me with his skills on the steel guitar. Last night I was in charge of shooting the interviews after each contestant performed. Everybody seems real cool and chill, like you would expect from a group of ten musicians.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on my movie poster and also here's a link to the triple m website.

It's Business Time

I had this assignment to create a logo, which is now my profile picture, and from that I decided to create a business card. I don't know if this is the card I will ultimately use but I could use some feedback on it, positive or negative. The top image is the front of the card and the bottom image would be the back of my card. This was a very long and enduring process to make the logo that was in my mind to what the logo you see now. My brother once told me of an idea of a tattoo he had. It was of a compass facing north, because the root of our last name, Nordby, means North in Norwegian. So partial credit belongs to my brother. If he decides to get that tattoo, I will design a different logo. But for the time being its MINE!!! It took me about 1 month of brainstorming and sketching before this idea came to me. I've received mostly positive feedback on this card design but if you see something with this design that you don't like, don't hesitate to let me have it. I'm a pretty tough guy, I work out. Hope you all enjoy this logo as much as I enjoyed designing it.

Im just a 6lb 7oz video and graphic art baby

Wha Wha I'm a baby, I'm hungry. Okay so I'm not actually a baby. My typing skills are way too good to be a baby. But I would be considered a baby in the video and graphic art world. I am currently half way though my 3rd semester at Madison Media Institute. My focus is on video and motion graphics. I am starting to think more about the future and how to build my portfolio. I have gotten many requests from friends and family to see some of my projects. It has always been my intention to share my work, it's just taken me a while to develop the skills necessary to create halfway respectable works. In case anyone is interested I AM proficient in photoshop, so yes you may be seeing pictures of me hanging out with Tom Cruise and Suri at the park in the near future.
Madison Media Institute is a visual arts school on the east side of Madison. I toyed with the idea of going to MMI about three or four times before I finally grew a pair and decided to take the leap of faith. It took me a while to realize my potential, but when I finally did I had no doubt I wanted to do. I eventually enrolled at MMI because I decided I wanted to be on the crew of one of those crazy Discovery Channel shows, like Man Vs. Wild or Dirty Jobs. I would still love to do that but since I've started at MMI I have really gotten to discover my creative side. Before I came to MMI the most creative I got was by making a CD mix and naming it after some washed up NBA baller or some 80s pop reference. Well, you could say I've evolved a little bit since then. Right now I think I would really enjoy being more of a part of the creative process; script writing, story boarding, something to that nature. I will try and stay current on my posts, but I am a very busy man. I will get most of my "respectable" works posted as soon as possible. But for now I will post my earliest pieces of work. This way you can see my skills develop as we go. These videos will be from first semester. I was probably considered a video and graphic art zygote at this point.
I have been having the time of my life developing all of these new skills and I cannot wait until I get the opportunity to make this my career. Every day is like a pizza party!!!
